Sex ratio, here is expressed as the number of women per thousand men in a given population at a given time. Data given per the Census of India 2001 and 2011 results.

Note that India had a sex ratio of 940 females per 1000 males as per 2011 data, an improvement of 7 over the ratio of 1000:933 in 2001.
