Come July and the Salalah Tourism Festival will add to the festivities in the Sultanate of Oman.

Beginning from the second day of Eid al Fitr, the official festival will continue for the next 25 days. The festival is also popularly known as ‘Khareef Festival’. Khareef, which means monsoon, is the time when Salalah, in the governorate of Dhofar, witnesses rains and tourists from all around the world come during this time to enjoy the unique weather.
Monsoon turns the bleak desert landscape of Salalah into a green paradise.

The theme of the festival this year is ‘Oman - Giving and Loyalty’. Technology, food, crafts, fashion, it’s all there at the festival. The Salalah Tourism Festival plays a key role in promoting tourism related activities in the Sultanate especially in the Dhofar region.

The festival attracts a large number of tourists from the neighboring GCC countries as also from Europe and other Middle Eastern countries. Over the years, Salalah has earned a reputation of being one of the best summer destinations in whole of the Middle East because of its monsoon season.

Salalah is an ancient Arabic city, the capital of Dhofar, and the governor’s seat. It’s the seconnd largest city in the Sultanate of Oman after the capital Muscat. Salalah is also famous for being the “Perfume Capital” of beautiful Arabia.
